This interactive solar radiation calculator allows you to calculate the direct and diffuse solar radiation at any time and place on Earth. The programme utilises highly visual interface to illustrate the variables involved in arriving at a value for the solar radiation. This includes an interactive map to select the desired location, a calendar to select the time of year and detailed graphs to view the time of day.
The programme may be used to estimate the maximum, mean and total annual solar energy intercepted by plots of land, solar collectors, buildings and structures. Moreover, the programme can also estimate the maximum solar heat loads on buildings and structures so that thermal, cooling and air conditioning loads may be estimated.
On arriving at the results, the programme allows you to modify the variables to determine the effects of changes to the time and location. The programme can also calculate an accumulated radiation value over the course of two set dates.
