This highly interactive virtual reality based e-learning programme covers in a visually engaging manner everything you need to know about heat pump principles. The programme is intended to facilitate learning and enhance the understanding of the otherwise complex heat pump concepts as well as instil good working practices for system design, installation, commissioning and handover.

The course content is aligned to the QCF Framework so can be used for study towards certification.

You simply select from the modules available and work through them, each includes an assessment at the end, to ensure that you have achieved the level of learning required. There are also highly interactive virtual reality based scenarios which will allow you to demonstrate and evaluate your understanding of the course using a more practical approach.

You will experience hours of interesting and thorough learning through advanced superior 3D animation supported by audio, text and interactive screens.

By using and completing this programme, you will be able to:

  • Gain an insight into the basics of equipment such as collectors, heat pump units and distribution systems
  • Understand heat pump design, installation and commissioning
  • Relate to health and safety issues when carrying out work
  • Explain what a heat pump is and how to calculate the efficiency of a heat pump
  • List the unit components of a heat pump
  • Explain how a ground source heat collector works
  • Explain how an air source heat collector works
  • List the principles of heat pump selection and system design
  • Explain the preparatory work required for installation and know how to install a heat pump
  • List the requirements and know how to test, commission and handover heat pump installations
