About Us

We are a consortium of organisations involved in the development of 21st century learning technologies supporting the education and industry sectors. The original consortium was formed in December 2006 to explore development of interactive virtual reality training and delivery. The group comprised of:

  • The College of North West London (FE College)
  • Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College (FE College)
  • Skills2Learn (Skills e-provider)
How it all started

The original consortium was established following the involvement with the New Engineering Fellowship Scheme, which was designed and supported by Lord Sainsbury, to improve the quality of engineering and technology lecturers by updating their skills and competencies. This was to ensure what was taught in the classroom matched industry requirements. We work closely to define educational goals for embedding new engineering methods into the curriculum; developing effective classroom practices using engineering subjects and production e-learning teaching materials. On completion of the secondment, the consortium between the college and the training providers was formed to deliver effective e-learning solutions supporting tutors and students to enhance learning and performance.

Our evolving business model allowed us to grow our market to provide a wide range of innovative e-learning solutions and to improve the impact of the employers business innovation services, performance and productivity. Our relationship with the industry was re-enforced by delivering business educational innovation services across our network. Working together with our partners gave us the opportunity to learn from their experiences and we shared resources to provide better innovative solutions. Our specialist network has been the leader in providing highly interactive and innovative solutions in the FE Market.

As a result of the excellent work derived from the consortium in the plumbing and downstream gas marketplace there was substantial interest in developing further interactive virtual reality training packages for the emerging technologies marketplaces. After a series of meetings a new larger and more diverse consortium was formed in July 2008 to look at the development of a new suite of interactive modules for solar technologies and renewables.

Creating the consortium enabled us to achieve even more by combining the solid learning expertise from FE Colleges and learning providers to develop top of the range educational programs. We know it works because:

  • we’ve tested and implemented other programs
  • our student’s results have improved dramatically
  • we have saved money by reducing material usage costs
  • our tutors have now found a new technique to explain subjects in a very effective way.
  • our students have expressed how impressed they are with the programs
